《白鸟》是叶芝所作的一首著名的爱情诗，
风格明朗纯净，倾诉的是诗人自己的一段伤心故事。
叶芝在23岁时对少女毛特一见钟情，却求而不得，
从此苦恋一生。《白鸟》来源于叶芝和毛特的一次游历，
当时有一对海鸥从头顶飞过，毛特说假如来世再生，
她愿变做一只白鸟。几天后她便收到叶芝寄给她的《白鸟》一诗，
诗中以星光、玫瑰代指世俗，
用搏浪翻飞的白鸟象征不屈的爱情，
用向往的岛屿来描绘心中最纯洁的伊甸园。
全诗热烈赤诚，却始终弥漫着“求而不得、
舍而不能”的忧伤，也传达者作者希望天下有情人可如一对白鸟，
不随岁月老,不被忧伤累,相依相伴，自在翻飞。
